I have been singing and performing political, progressive folk music for over 5 decades. Over the years I have supported many different progressive compassionate causes with my feet, my time and with my music.
Through the years, I have collected, learned and performed folk songs related to anti-war protests of the 1960s and 70s, the civil rights/freedom struggles, the LGBTQ movement, the efforts to stop production of nuclear weapons and the building of dangerous power plants, and the United Farm Workers and other unions.
I sing some original songs, and also enjoy performing the great music of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Kate Wolf and others.
It has been my privilege to play music across this country at rallies, meetings, marches, etc., to groups big and small.
Lately, I have spent time in South Carolina, helping a long time friend run as a Democrat progressive in a very red district.
During this time in South Carolina, I’ve had the opportunity to play Civil Rights and freedom songs with a talented colleague and friend Bhakti Larry Hough. We are in the process of recording an LP that will include originals and many of the traditional songs.
Tours
I am now embarking on several small tours each year, to continue my support of people and groups who are trying to preserve our democracy, rule of law and the decent and compassionate nature of so many of us in this nation.
Although some of the topics in my performance are serious, I try to have fun and inspire every audience. I especially like to include some sing-along songs.
I do not charge for my performances, so groups that are just starting out or groups that are more established can enjoy the music. Of course donations are accepted to meet the cost of travel and lodging.
Please contact me if you would be interested in an inspiring progressive performance for your organization. I will do my best to include you, if I am touring in your area.

I have had several recording sessions with Randy Cahall, and I would like to say that he is very professional, easy to work with and a very good musician.
As a folk musician, Randy has a vast amount of history knowledge about the songs he performs. I really enjoyed listening to and recording his music, and learning some of the history behind many songs I have heard for years, was a really nice bonus. Thanks Randy.

Randy Cahall and I have worked together on many progressive causes and projects for the last 4 decades.
Randy’s dedication to making the world a better place and his dedication to playing positive, progressive and uplifting folk music at rallies, meetings, events, etc. is to be commended.
His presentation is great and I love to hear him play songs that matter and help us all.

Randy Cahall has been an unforgettable guest in my political science courses, where he’s played his music and spoken to students about the tumultuous political times that inspired his words and songs—songs that continue to echo true today.
The students’ response to his music was fantastic, and they consistently incorporated his visits into our class discussions and assignments. I very much look forward to his future participation in my classrooms.
